It's About Time
No Other Way to Say it
Shoreline Sunset I remember with great fondness the year that I spent in Southern California. It was the summer of '89, and I was twenty years old. I surfed and biked, and cruised around in my '67 Volkswagen bug. On some days I was heartbroken over Ann-Louise, on other days I was trying to scam on some SoCal hottie. I was never more than one step from starving, but what a time...
Somethin' Else I called this song something else because it quite a departure musically and style-wise from anything I was doing at the time. It is dedicated to that girl who is also quite a departure style-wise from the crowd.
Love Song to the Masses This is a love that I wrote to the whole world, and by saying just that much I've given away the satire. I do truly love the whole world, but baby, you've got some baggage. I'll stick it out with you, though, cause that's the kind of guy I am.
Not Grown Up Anyone that has been listening to my stuff for a while will probably realize that this song has been through some name changes. A song is sort of "married" to it's name, and some times marriages don't work out. But this song has survived it's little string of bad marriages and now it is it has a name that better represents what I had in mind when I wrote it. To quote John the Ancient: "If we live long enough, we will eventually get over our childhood. And guess what, baby? It's all childhood."
This is another song basically written for the world, but then, what musical endeavor produced specifically for commercial appeal isn't written for the whole world? (or, at least as much of the world as they can include in their musical message.) Some people have called this song a pity party, and all I have to say to that is "Guilty." On the other hand, I'm not dead yet, and there is still a chance for me to become the person I always wanted to be, so maybe this is actually a song of hope.
Sometime in my late twenties I slowly came to realization that the world we live in is upside-down. I would love to say more about this, but whenever I do, people start to look at me like I've just sprouted a second head. Preciously rare are those times when I get the chance to meet and/or talk to someone that understands my views. So, all I can say is, if you would like to become one of those precious people, go to www.vampiresforever.com, buy and read my books. NO, I do NOT believe in vampires, or any other super-natural or extra-terrestrial stuff. It was merely excellent subject matter on which I could write a story that illustrated my views on this crazy anti-civilization we all find ourselves living in.
