World Peace is Now Possible
by Paul Beach The logistics of bringing about world peace are really too complicated to be outlined in a couple of pages, but due to popular demand, I’m apparently going to give it the old college try anyway. I believe that I can sum up a way to achieve world peace in one word – Education. Of course, I will elaborate, but first, here is a (very!) brief overview of world conditions. The state of the world is not an accident; the existence of this artificially created entity known as government (in all of its various forms) is not an anomaly. These conditions are the net result of every cause set in motion by every conscious individual in the world. Everyone in the world wants something different; we all have our own individual agendas and priorities. All of these various wishes, desires, agendas, and priorities average out into a muddled product that is the state of the world as it is today. Every word said and deed done by you, myself, and everyone else in the world contributes in its own small, or large, way to bring about the specific status of not only the immediate environment around each of us respectively, but also the state of the world. The state of world peace will happen at exactly the moment that every conscious individual in the world sets the particular causes in motion necessary to bring about that net result. This may seem like a tall order, but nothing worthwhile is ever achieved with ease, and I don’t think it’s prohibitively difficult.
World peace is more than just the
ceasing of all warring, however ending all the wars would be a good step in the
right direction. Notwithstanding what is reported by the media, and what we have
been taught in history class, wars are fought for one reason and one reason
only, and that reason is control of resources. In wars past that resource has
been land, sometimes gold, often human, and lately oil. Wars are not fought for
religion, democracy, or any other non-tangible concept; such a notion is merely
the rhetoric used by slick and charismatic individuals in an attempt, often
successful, to convince hoards of individuals (usually young and already prone
to following) to go fight in a war. Simply, there would be no war if no-one
joined the army. Even defensive actions such as a revolutionary war are
disputes over who has a legal claim to certain resources, usually human. And it
still goes on today. The Now, assuming that everyone taking the time to read this article is committed to the idea called world peace, let me spell out a few ideas that won’t work; just so that we’ll all know what to avoid so we don’t waste our time. There is absolutely no government order that could ever be created with the ability to bring about world peace. There is no treaty, or collection of laws that could be written by man that could enforce world peace. Why? Because, for starters, you can’t force people to be peaceful. Emperor Palpatine already tried that a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, and he had no end to problems from those pesky rebels. Totalitarianism would never work to enforce peace, because there are still enough individuals like myself who would fight such escalated oppression, assuming that such a regime could be instituted in the first place. Government, in any form, by its very nature, oppresses; it can’t help it. World peace will occur only after all oppression is eliminated. How do we eliminate oppression? The concept is fairly simple; the logistics only slightly more complicated. Every conscious individual in the world must make a commitment to personal responsibility. It would read something like this: “I, Paul Beach, do hereby solemnly swear to take full responsibility for my own actions. I will respect the Rights of every other conscious individual in the world; those rights being specifically the right of life, the right of liberty, and the right of ownership of private property. I will not initiate force, or the threat of force, or fraud against any individual or their property. I will not purposefully cause a damage to any individual or their property, and I will repay, with my life if necessary, anything required to restore to satisfaction any damage that I may cause by accident. Lastly, I will produce more than I consume.” OK, so I’m no Thomas Jefferson. But if the spirit of such a declaration were adhered to by every conscious individual, we’d be 98 percent of the way toward achieving world peace. Every politician, every religious leader, every government employee, every person engaged in dishonest business practices; all would re-think their livelihoods, and radically change the causes that they currently set in motion that bring about the effects of perpetuated oppression and prevented world peace. Government would fade away, and freely competitive businesses would take over the roll of providing certain services to the public. Government assets could be auctioned off and the proceeds used to pay back any individuals that feel they have a legal claim, e.g. anyone who has spent a lifetime paying into “social security” and is now receiving little or nothing. Right now I’m sure you’re asking, “What about those anti-social few who don’t feel inclined to live by any such commitment?” Well friends, that’s the beauty of this Age of Communication that we live in today! For the first time ever in recorded history, we have the technology right now to help make world peace possible. And, we’re even already doing it to a certain small degree on forums, consumer watch lists, and other networks! I’m talking about computerized ostracism. What happens today if some scam artist tries to pull a fast one? I promise you that in no time someone will have that scam artist listed on the Rip-Off Report (or some other fine internet resource) with all the details. Then the rest of us know not to do business with that person. How anti-social can a person be when they have no way to buy or sell, i.e. to do business? I could be wrong, but I think they would come around rather quickly. No oppression, no coercion; just simple, easy computerized ostracism. And we’re already doing it! Brilliant! This brings me full circle back to my original thought - Education! And it all starts with you, me, and every other like-minded individual in the world. Parents and teachers, teach your children and students personal responsibility. Mamas, don’t let your babies grow up to be followers. The best thing that we all can do, if we are committed to world peace, taking personal responsibility, producing more than we consume, is to communicate these ideas to others; just like the most massive, most crucial, and most profitable (in the long view) network marketing campaign ever undertaken. You have my commitment already, as written above. And I already make it a business practice to NOT do business with individuals (or companies headed by individuals) that clearly have not made any such commitment. Sure, it takes a bite out of business, but business is still good, and I can sleep at night knowing that I’m not in business with thieves. It may be only a drop in the bucket, but it is my small, individual effort to set in motion the necessary causes that I believe will contribute to the net result that is world peace. Peace!
