Dear
Mr. Agent,
Please
consider The Real Vampires for representation by your agency. The Real
Vampires is a Horror/Sci-Fi novel that is approximately 250,000 words in
length.
It
is the story of Marcus, a modern day vampire that has survived for five
centuries by staying deep in the shadowy background of society. Pursuing Marcus
is the ancient being who is responsible for unintentionally creating the very
first vampire thousands of years ago, and who feels morally obligated to correct
his mistake. The existence of vampires has caused an imbalance in the world that
has greatly retarded the natural progress and evolutionary development of
mankind. Marcus knows that he should die in order to help correct this great
imbalance, but he can’t overcome his uncontrollable reflex to survive.
Caught
between the opposing motivations of these two timeless beings is a collection of
colorful characters: a politician skilled at using crisis to gain support from
the public; an old businessman who manipulates the system for increased profits;
a police detective bent on bringing an elusive serial killer to justice, not
knowing that his true quarry is a vampire; a young, schizophrenic man who
fancies himself a vampire slayer; and finally, several strong and empowered
women that are all caught up in Marcus’s charms, for good reason.
As
I’m sure you are aware, vampire stories are practically a genre in and of
themselves. There is a large number of people fascinated by and passionate about
the concepts of vampirism and immortality. What makes The Real Vampires
stand apart from the many other vampire stories is that you won’t find
yourself longing to be a vampire as you read it. The Real Vampires uses
science rather than magic to explain the possibility of vampirism. More
importantly, though, The Real Vampires is a look at what’s wrong and
right with our world through the eyes of some extremely old individuals. The
wisdom of Marcus and the objectivity of his perspective are undeniable.
I
have worked as a professional musician for seventeen years and during that time
I have seen much of the US, Mexico, Canada, and Europe. I have also been writing
through all of those travels! Vampires is my fifth completed manuscript.
I
have included a SASE for your convenience in requesting a copy of the
manuscript. As I’m sure you are quite busy, please do not trouble yourself
with sending me a form rejection. By this I will know that your agency is
attentive and efficient and I will be able to consider your agency for one of my
future projects.
Have
a Splendid Day!
